A Journey to the Sacred Lakes of the Himalayas
The Holy Gosaikunda Trek is a spiritually enriching adventure that blends mythology, breathtaking mountain landscapes, and diverse cultural heritage. This revered trail leads you to Gosaikunda Lake (4380m), a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists, nestled high in the Langtang region.
According to Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda was created when Lord Shiva, in an effort to cool his burning throat after swallowing poison to save the world, struck his trident into a rock and formed the lake. Each August during the full-moon Janai Purnima festival, thousands of pilgrims trek to its holy waters, believed to purify the soul and cleanse sins.
But this trek is not only about spiritual awakening — it offers spectacular views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal ranges, serene alpine meadows, and enchanting forests. The journey also provides a rare chance to encounter Tamang, Sherpa, and Hyolmo cultures, and pass by some of the 108 sacred alpine lakes that dot this mystical region.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Preparation Day in Kathmandu
Final gear check, permits, and briefing. Option to explore the cultural landmarks of the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 03: Drive to Dhunche (1960m)
Early morning scenic drive (approx. 6–7 hours) through winding mountain roads to Dhunche, the gateway to Langtang and Gosaikunda. Overnight in Dhunche.
Day 04: Trek to Sing Gompa (3330m)
Begin the trek with a steady ascent through dense forest and local villages. Reach the peaceful settlement of Sing Gompa, home to a monastery and yak cheese factory.
Day 05: Trek to Gosaikunda (4380m)
Ascend along a ridgeline with panoramic mountain views. Reach the sacred alpine lakes of Gosaikunda, believed to be created by Lord Shiva. Overnight at lakeside lodges.
Day 06: Explore Gosaikunda
Spend the day soaking in the spiritual atmosphere and exploring nearby lakes such as Bhairab Kunda and Saraswati Kunda. Optional short hikes around the area.
Day 07: Cross Lauribina Pass (4610m) – Trek to Ghopte (3440m)
Early morning trek over Lauribina La, the highest point of the journey. Descend through dramatic landscapes to reach the forested area of Ghopte. Overnight in Ghopte.
Day 08: Trek to Thadepati (3690m)
Short ascent to Thadepati, a ridge-top village with sweeping views of the Helambu region. Relax and enjoy the tranquility. Overnight in Thadepati.
Day 09: Trek to Kutumsang (2470m)
Descend through oak and rhododendron forests, passing traditional Tamang villages. Overnight in Kutumsang.
Day 10: Trek to Chisapani (2215m)
Continue through forest trails and hillside farms to reach Chisapani, a scenic hilltop village offering views of both the Langtang and Annapurna ranges.
Day 11: Trek to Sundarijal – Drive to Kathmandu
Final descent through Shivapuri National Park to Sundarijal. Drive back to Kathmandu and check in at the hotel. Rest and relax.
Day 12-13: Free Day in Kathmandu
Enjoy a leisure day to explore, shop, or rest. Optional guided tours available to cultural heritage sites.
Day 14: Departure Day
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. End of trip.
During the trek all meals, twin-sharing accommodation at lodge. Well trained and experienced trekking guide, National park conservation fees. Twin- sharing accommodation in Kathmandu 3* categories hotel on B/B basis as per itinerary. Sightseeing in historical cities with guide.

This is a very famous holy lake for the Hindus and the Buddhists. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake every year during the full moon festival in August. According to the Hindu mythology, when the God churned the primordial ocean to produce elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced simultaneously.
